Mexico vs Angola
Mexico and Angola squared off in a friendly match at Reliant Stadium, pulling of a close 1-0 victory over Angola thanks to a goal from midfielder Andres Guardado in the 53rd minute.
The game was the second to last stop for El Tri on their pre-World Cup tour across the US, and the crowd of 70,099 certainly made an impression on the team.
“It was marvelous. What can I tell you?” head coach Javier Aguirre said after the match. The crowd was the third largest in Houston soccer history, trailing only a Barcelona/Club America match in 2006 and a Mexico/US friendly in 2008.
